I had a very small cancer lump I found myself with 6 years of mamograms under my belt which never picked up my cancer. I had the whole breast removed and no lymphnodes were infected. Took tamoxifen for 5 years just in case. The lump was so small only was 5mm large. Went to a major cancer hospital. Now look what happen. Anyone can turn stage IV at any time. I want that vaccine now because I now it will prolong my life. I have started a petition to try and get this into trials asap. I would love to be in the trial. http://www.thepetitionsite.com/4/Breast-Cancer-Vaccine/
please sign this for all women who need it now.Daveannesmithnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3536683374417960813.post-69521825802018076842010-06-29T09:10:56.256-04:002010-06-29T09:10:56.256-04:00Well stupid is as stupid doesWell stupid is as stupid doesAmynoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3536683374417960813.post-67480369711772242832010-06-09T11:55:52.607-04:002010-06-09T11:55:52.607-04:00I definitely would NOT get it! With a family history of the disease, it would seem to be wise. To those who are fundamentally against vaccinations, ask mothers in Africa who do not have access to vaccines and have to watch their children die of preventable diseases whether vaccines do "more harm than good".JeneeLynnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3536683374417960813.post-36110120773632267582010-06-05T02:13:03.515-04:002010-06-05T02:13:03.515-04:00i had breast cancer as a young woman. If there was a vaccine to prevent breast cancer and I tested positive for the breast cancer gene i would take the vaccine. As one who has been through this I would rather be healthy enough to have a child even though I could not breast feed rather than to be in my position with little to no chance of ever having a child. Believe me, breast cancer is a devastating disease that takes away so much of a young woman's life. As for those kids that have lost their mother's to breast cancer I'm sure most of them would gladly have opted for formula in exchange for living mothers.breast cancer survivornoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3536683374417960813.post-21987704258491991622010-06-03T13:11:30.454-04:002010-06-03T13:11:30.454-04:00Hmmm. I know it's not a cure all but as a breastfeeding mom myself, this is a tough one. Breastfeeding reduces the risk, not eliminate it. If the vaccine eliminates the risk I'd consider it. I have such a strong bond with my children because of breastfeeding. If I had to choose between not being able to nurse and know I wouldn't get breast cancer, or nurse and take the risk, I'd take the risk anyways. Breastfeeding is so worth it.Heather Bhttp://www.homemadem.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3536683374417960813.post-3544735880523706712010-06-03T13:04:52.742-04:002010-06-03T13:04:52.742-04:00As the daughter and granddaughter of breast cancer...As the daughter and granddaughter of breast cancer victims, and a pro-nursing (and currently nursing) mom of 2, I would not discount the benefits of this vaccine- if and when it is deemed medically sound.

My mother died at 36. I hope I do not follow in her footsteps. So if this vaccine becomes available, I would take it- after I was sure I was done having kids. Bottom line though is, if it is a choice between not having to breastfeed an unintended child after getting the vaccine, or leaving my children without a mom (as I was left) the choice is clear.

I would not get the vaccine today, but I would certainly keep it in mind for once I am done having kidsRebeccanoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3536683374417960813.post-12524674050869543652010-06-03T11:20:06.979-04:002010-06-03T11:20:06.979-04:00My mom had breast cancer. I would not get the vaccine unless I was very sure I was done having children, and I had evaluated the risks of it.Hannahnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3536683374417960813.post-46729198748863507642010-06-02T22:39:54.554-04:002010-06-02T22:39:54.554-04:00I think vaccines are way oversold, and lactating i...I think vaccines are way oversold, and lactating is awesome, so I may be skewed, but my opinion is that the best way to deal with nature is not to mess with nature until and unless you ABSOLUTELY have to. There are ALWAYS consequences! The only way to makes those consequences reasonable is when the medicine clearly causes more good than harm. When we are talking about preventative medicine ( beyond healthy living), there is not way to evaluate the real equation of harm vs. good!Whittneynoreply@blogger.com
