My kids nursed immediately and stayed in my room from day 1. Does that make me better than other moms ... (sarcasm!) :-p

Guess I should be glad that scientists are attempting some studies of the bonding process, but let's hope they try a bit harder.Conniehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03667481504650498976noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3536683374417960813.post-71002339820495166152008-09-06T08:20:00.000-04:002008-09-06T08:20:00.000-04:00I was taken aback when I saw the title of this pos...I was taken aback when I saw the title of this post, but then when I read it, I think it makes some sense. NOT that I think "better" is a way to describe the difference. But my experiences have left my with a lot of what-if thoughts and feelings, however I also did not have a typical c-section situation either. I DID labor with contractions for 3 days (seriously, about 70 hours). So, I should have had plenty of oxytocin. But then when Asher was born, he had a breathing problem, so he was in the nursery with an oxygen hood, and I was completely out of it. I didn't get to hold him until he was 18 or more hours old. I should have started pumping my breasts right away, and they did bring in a pump, but I was too out of it to do it, and no one really made me do it (not that I expected to be forced, but a nurse really walking me through it would have been nice). So, of course I did have trouble breastfeeding at first, and I do think I didn't feel as "close" to Asher as I might have if I held him immediately. At least, that is what I always wonder about. In the long run, we are all fine and love each other.Nichttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11492629435007810776noreply@blogger.com
