I've known women who just quit nursing because they had to supplement - their attitude was "I have to use formula anyway, so why bother?" Argh!
I was blessed with my first child to live less than 10 minutes from my desk. I could go home and nurse throughout the day... but yes, that was a very unusual situation.Conniehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03667481504650498976noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3536683374417960813.post-72573437286584402662009-02-11T13:19:00.000-05:002009-02-11T13:19:00.000-05:00Kimberly, I think a good solution would be afforda...Kimberly, I think a good solution would be affordable and government-subsidized day care, either onsite or close enough so that moms can go nurse the baby 2-3 times during the day.Elitahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01294923997458681675noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3536683374417960813.post-8063012397116800572009-02-11T13:05:00.000-05:002009-02-11T13:05:00.000-05:00But what is solution? Pumping is an option for the work day, though a mom has to MAKE pumping a huge priority or she won't make enough. And pumping is hard.

I don't know the answer.

I may have a breastfeeding rant on my blog later...Kimberlyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18167296198042569211noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3536683374417960813.post-4384490111915745892009-02-11T11:53:00.000-05:002009-02-11T11:53:00.000-05:00I can't even fathom 9 months PAID leave (even if i...I can't even fathom 9 months PAID leave (even if it is a small percentage of your salary, say 55% with a cap at $954 per month, the way it is in California). I took 6 months unpaid leave and I could barely leave my baby at that point. My heart hurts for the women that have to return at 12 weeks or even the ungodly 6.Elitahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01294923997458681675noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3536683374417960813.post-10740382805464207112009-02-11T11:47:00.000-05:002009-02-11T11:47:00.000-05:00Always amazes me, absolutely amazes me, that there...Always amazes me, absolutely amazes me, that there is no proper paid mat leave in the US. I complain about our nine months' paid (very low amount) and 3 months' unpaid here in the UK, but at least it gives us a fair chance.Rosemary Cottagehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12204378986946967049noreply@blogger.com
