Aminah has been nursing a bit more and even asked to nurse when I came home from work today, so who knows? I've found that weaning tends to be sort of circular anyway. They nurse, they don't nurse, they come back to it, they stop again. I can't tell you how many times I thought for sure my son was done, only to have him pick right back up again.Elita @ Blacktatinghttp://www.blacktating.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3536683374417960813.post-39868345225252942502012-07-09T19:54:09.822-04:002012-07-09T19:54:09.822-04:00Yes, we all are doing our best!Yes, we all are doing our best!Elita @ Blacktatinghttp://www.blacktating.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3536683374417960813.post-29670335786166363512012-07-07T18:29:54.715-04:002012-07-07T18:29:54.715-04:00What's worse, hell that's a dam good quest...What's worse, hell that's a dam good question! I never would've guessed we'd go until 3!!Elita @ Blacktatinghttp://www.blacktating.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3536683374417960813.post-76129113201858275542012-07-06T12:05:08.107-04:002012-07-06T12:05:08.107-04:00First of all...your baby is absolutely GORGEOUS! !...First of all...your baby is absolutely GORGEOUS! !! <br />Secondly, it is so comforting reading stories of mothers who actually WANT to nurse past one year. I have a 15 year old & a 22 month old (big age difference I know lol) both have been strictly breastfed and while my son was easy to ween (he stopped at 13 months), my daughter on the other hand just wont quit! I'll admit its been kind of frustrating as I was always one of those people who thought nursing past one was ridiculous but this new little person has been teaching me a lot about life and the assumptions I once had. Maybe its because I'm older now but its been quite the journey!Lonnesenoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3536683374417960813.post-51610561000547563952012-07-06T10:16:07.074-04:002012-07-06T10:16:07.074-04:00She's such a cutie! I still make it a point to nurse her throughout the day, however, because I don't think I'm ready to let go. At almost 9 months, she's not ready either...but I think she just doesn't know it yet. lol. I stopped with my first at 14 months because I got pregnant, so I was hoping with my second I could go until at least two! That's my hope. We'll see what happens. lol. Jessica F. I think lots of people notice nursing differences between their boys and their girls....my mom noticed the same as you - my brother would have nursed for ever, 24 hours a day and my sister and I were 5 mins on and then done. Mine was not a comfort nurser, either -- we settled into a nurse at wakeup/naps/bedtime routine around 8 months, and she continued that until 18 months, when I very gently weaned her in order to get pregnant. He was only nursing upon waking and some days he'd skip that. But traveling and a bout of teething have made him seek that comfort more. I still don't think he'll go much past 2, but you never know how they'll react to certain stress and how that will affect the nursing relationship.Amberhttp://ambularlogic.blogspot.com/noreply@blogger.com
